Bhutan is the most amazing country I have visited.  Located in the lower Himalayas, north of India and south of Tibet, Bhutan is the only Bhudist country in the world.  In 2004 the government limited tourists to 6,000 per year; so there were only 125 foreigners in the country at any one time.  While the per capita income is one of the lowest in the world, the spiritual wealth and level of happiness is among the highest.

I traveled with my nephew, Charles Peck.  We were fortunate to stay at the Aman which, in my opinion, is the finest hotel chain.  We traveled throughout western Bhutan, with stays in Paro, Thimphu,  and Punakha.  Aman provided us with a guide, Tse Wang, and a driver, Sonam, both who made our trip memorable.

There were amazing experiences, one after another:  the dramatic flight in on Druk Air which beats the best roller coaster; sharing a private rimdo with 19 monks and the local villagers, having chai along the mountain roads, sharing New Years breakfast of porridge, chang, and rice krispies with Tse Wangs mother in law and her family, finding monkeys and oxen along the road, and most of all, encouters with the truly beautiful Bhutanese.

If you get the chance, visit the land of the dragon.
